Learning from wins (and losses)

This section converts observed Brightwell client wins into practical signals for improving the Brightwell propensity method. The losses column is retained as a live learning area for future tender outcomes, declined opportunities and non-conversions.

Wins: what current Brightwell appointments teach the model

Brightwell’s visible client wins cluster around large, mature DB schemes that value BTPS-derived scale, in-house expertise, partnership delivery and member-service transformation.

  • EE Pension Scheme DB section: selected Brightwell for fiduciary management after a competitive tender, with emphasis on proven BTPS-scale investment expertise, funding stability, tailored partnership and technology-enabled member outcomes.
  • Mineworkers’ Pension Scheme: moved administration to Brightwell after review, citing shared large-scheme values, improved member experience, qualified in-house support, efficient operations and the Procentia IntelliPen portal.
  • BTPS anchor evidence: demonstrated digital member journeys, funding improvement, ESG/net-zero integration, scale economics and higher member-service benchmarks.

Propensity-method implication: increase weighting for mature DB scale, pensioner-heavy profiles, administration under-investment, digital-service needs, run-on/surplus strategy, LDI/funding complexity and competitive-tender triggers.

Losses: evidence to capture next

No additional named Brightwell appointments have been evidenced publicly beyond BTPS, EEPS and MPS in the current research set. The model should explicitly learn from future losses or stalled opportunities as they become visible.

  • Record whether rejected schemes chose traditional admin, fiduciary-only, insurer buy-out, outsourced CIO or in-house retention routes.
  • Tag reasons for loss: price, incumbent lock-in, insufficient digital pain, weak trustee appetite, procurement timing, adviser conflict or buy-out proximity.
  • Convert losses into negative modifiers so target scoring remains absolute, stable and evidence-led rather than purely similarity-led.

Adopted Target Register and Cross-Appointment Map

The live consolidation resource derives its membership and status totals from the private adopted BRP register each time it is opened. It retains all adopted targets, exposes PFO facts only after exact composite matching, and labels trustee-map context separately from source-reviewed BRP ER reports.

Important: Trustee-map future items are ESTIMATE ONLY, with source basis and confidence. They are not BRP ER output; a newer source-led BRP ER report supersedes source context for the relevant target.

Cross Appointment Map of Trustees for the BRP Combined Pipeline

The 396 historical Appendix A memberships resolve to 395 current PFO identities. Use the framework tier to distinguish Priority, Develop, Research Further and Exclude records; the live BRP operating list is a separate 191-record status.

Evidence boundary. Trustee links use official Companies House officer arrays for confirmed corporate trustee companies. Framework tiers are commercial assessment states; live PFO values remain authoritative for identity and assets. Past/current project evidence and future hypotheses are kept separate. A future hypothesis is not a fact and is not written to the PFO record.
